Black Australorps

Heritage breed / 5 pullets available

Egg Production: 250+ tinted to light brown medium/large eggs/year.

Black Astralorps do well in confinement as long as they are also allowed to do some foraging, which they enjoy. If they are kept only in confinement, they may get fat. Due to their black color, they do best if they have ample shade in warm weather so they don’t get overheated. They are friendly (even the roosters) and are a good breed for children who want to show in 4H or other youth competitions.

California Greys

Hybrid breed / 6 pullets available

Egg Production: 300-340 white eggs/year

This smart, hardworking bird has proven itself in all types of flocks for one simple reason: it delivers. Excellent egg and meat production, friendly personalities and impressive adaptability make California Greys, a breed cross of Barred Plymouth Rocks and White Leghorns, a practical flock choice.

Cream Legbars ($30/bird)

Heritage breed / 7 pullets available.

Egg Production: 180-220 medium to large pale sky blue to light turquoise eggs/year

The Legbar is a rare British auto-sexing breed of chicken. It was created in the early twentieth century by Reginald Crundall Punnett and Michael Pease at the Genetical Institute of Cambridge University by cross-breeding American Barred Plymouth Rock birds with brown Leghorns and created the gold and silver colour varieties. Pease created a cream Legbar by cross-breeding these with white Leghorns; later crossing with Araucanas caused this to have a crest and to lay blue or blue-green eggs.

French Wheaten Marans ($30/bird)

Heritage breed / 5 pullets available

Egg Production: 200+ large, dark brown eggs/year.

As their name suggests, French Wheaten Marans originate from the Marans region in France. Renowned for their egg production, the females of this breed display an array of wheat-colored feathers, beautifully contrasted by black tail feathers and are not only visually appealing but also friendly and sociable. Please note that the egg color can lighten as the laying season progresses.

Gold-Laced Wyandottes

Heritage breed / 3 pullets available.

Egg Production: 180-260 medium to large brown eggs/year.

The Golden Laced Wyandotte is a hardy, dual-purpose chicken breed known for its stunning gold feathers with black lacing and docile, yet independent temperament, making them ideal for backyard flocks. They are long-lived, often thriving for 6-12 years.

Production Red

Hybrid hatchery breed / 9 pullets available

Egg Production: 250-300+ large brown eggs/year

Production Red chickens are high-output hybrid layers, often crossing Rhode Island Reds with other breeds. Known as hardy, docile, and consistent year-round layers, they begin laying early (16-22 weeks) and are ideal for backyard, homestead or commercial egg production.

White Leghorns

Years ago, a small amazingly productive chicken breed was imported from Italy through the port of Livorno. "Leghorn" became the Anglicized word for that port and the breed.
